Solihull rated among the top councils in England for adult social care

Some positive local news: Solihull Council’s adult social care services have been rated “Good” by the Care Quality Commission, with the council saying its 84% score places Solihull fifth nationally among local authorities inspected so far.

Solihull Wheels For All has been recognised for its work helping more people to enjoy cycling, including residents who may otherwise face barriers to getting involved. Inclusive, practical and community-led, it’s a brilliant example of the kind of initiative that quietly makes Solihull a better place to live.
They run sessions on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 10:30am–12:30pm, plus Monday evenings from 6pm–7pm during British Summer Time. No booking is needed, and new attendees are welcome, which makes it an especially lovely option for anyone who’s been thinking about giving it a try.

Solihull Shines is back to celebrate young local talent
Solihull Shines is coming to The Core Theatre on Friday 10 April at 7pm, bringing together a mix of entertainment, standout performances and plenty of family-friendly feel-good energy. The fundraising variety show will shine a light on some of the best young musicians and performers from across Solihull, making it a brilliant way to support local talent while enjoying a really special evening out. Standard tickets are £20, or £40 for VIP.
Good to know: The event is hosted by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Annette Mackenzie, and raises money for three charities. The VIP option includes access from 6pm with pre-show entertainment, grazing boards and a complimentary drink.

Touchwood’s Easter Village Green
Touchwood’s Easter Village Green is back for the school holidays, with hands-on Easter craft sessions, interactive activities and plenty to keep little ones busy in the heart of Solihull town centre. Sessions run from 30 March to 10 April, tickets are from £4, and there’s even a £2 kids’ hot chocolate voucher for Cacao included, a nice little bonus if you’re making a morning or afternoon of it. Great if you want something central, easy and Easter-holiday friendly.
You Choose at Warwick Arts Centre
You Choose at Warwick Arts Centre looks like a lovely Easter holiday pick for younger children, an interactive musical show based on the popular books by Pippa Goodhart and Nick Sharratt, where every performance is a little different. It runs on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 April, lasts 55 minutes, and tickets are £18.50. Best for ages 2–7 if you’re after a fun first-theatre-trip kind of outing.

Warwick Castle - Easter Bird of Prey Show
Warwick Castle’s bird of prey show, The Falconer’s Quest, is back for the Easter holidays and looks like a brilliant one if you want something a little different from the usual day out. It runs from 28 March to 12 April at 12.15pm and 4.30pm, and Warwick Castle says it features more than 60 birds in the UK’s largest bird of prey display. Great if you fancy a proper family day out with a bit of wow-factor. Entry is included with a castle ticket, from £26 online.
Baddesley Clinton Easter Trail
Baddesley Clinton’s Easter trail is a lovely classic Easter holiday option if you want fresh air, a bit of adventure, and somewhere the kids can properly explore. The trail runs 1–6 April from 9.30am–4pm, and the National Trust says Easter trail packs are £3.50 per child, on top of normal admission. A great shout if you want something outdoorsy, scenic and easy to turn into a half-day trip
UK Bookfest at the National Exhibition Centre
UK Bookfest is coming to the NEC in Solihull from 2–7 April, with free entry and around 100,000 books to browse. Opening times are 8am–8pm, except Sunday when it runs 1pm–4pm, so it’s a really easy one to fit around the Easter break. Great if you’ve got book-loving kids, want a quieter outing, or just fancy a proper browse.

School holiday swimming crash courses
School holiday swimming crash courses are a really useful Easter holiday option if you’d like the kids to come out of the break having learned something as well as burned off a bit of energy. Everyone Active says these intensive short-course lessons are designed to help children make rapid progress in a focused burst, while building confidence, water safety skills and stroke development in a fun, supportive setting. A great shout if you want something active, practical and genuinely worthwhile over the holidays.

Solihull Moors:
Solihull Moors head into a busy run of April fixtures, with trips to Tamworth on Friday 3 April, Southend United on Saturday 11 April and Woking on Tuesday 14 April, plus home games against Boreham Wood on Monday 6 April and Boston United on Saturday 18 April. It feels like a big stretch of the season now, so if you’ve been meaning to get down to a game or keep a closer eye on the run-in, this is a good time to do it.

Big & Exciting Events:
The Toy Collectors Fair comes to the NEC on Sunday 12 April, running from 10:30am to 3pm in Hall 18. Tickets are £11 for adults, £10 for seniors and £2 for children, making it a fun one for collectors, nostalgic grown-ups and toy-loving kids alike.
The Farm Shop & Deli Show takes place at the NEC from Monday 13 to Wednesday 15 April in Hall 3A, opening 10am–5pm on Monday and Tuesday, and 10am–4pm on Wednesday. It’s free to attend, and is a great one to have on the radar for food lovers, indie food businesses and anyone curious about what’s next in local and speciality food.
