Local Solihull News & Updates

New business park plans revealed for Hockley Heath

Plans have been revealed for a major new business park on green belt land near Hockley Heath.

The proposal, called Indurent Park Solihull, would sit on land north of Kineton Lane, close to the M42, and includes plans for six industrial and logistics units. Earlier consultation details from Hockley Heath Parish Council said the scheme could involve up to 980,000 sq ft of industrial and logistics space.

Supporters will point to the potential economic boost, new jobs and Solihull’s strong location for business, however, because the site is on green belt land, it’s also likely to raise concerns around traffic, countryside, infrastructure and the changing feel of Hockley Heath.

It’s one of those stories that feels bigger than just a planning application, because it touches on a question lots of places around Solihull are facing.

We’ll keep an eye on this one as it develops. To view the plans and submit a comment, search for application PL/2026/01046/PPOL here:

Solihull Community Spotlight

Solihull first-aid group raising funds for young people

A Solihull first-aid group is raising funds to help more young people learn life-saving skills.

St John Ambulance Solihull and East Birmingham Network has been carrying out demonstrations and fundraising activity, with money raised helping to support community engagement and give young volunteers the chance to build confidence, communication skills and real experience helping the public.

It’s one of those brilliant local stories that quietly matters. Because first aid is the kind of skill you hope you’ll never need, but if you do, it can make all the difference.

A huge well done to everyone involved. 👏

Balsall Common family recognised for Parkinson’s fundraising

A family from Balsall Common has been recognised for their incredible fundraising efforts for Cure Parkinson’s.

Sally and Richard Franck, who live in the village, have been named Cure Parkinson’s Fundraising Team of the Year, a lovely moment of recognition for a local family making a real difference.

Their work is helping to raise money and awareness for research into Parkinsons, and it’s exactly the community story we love to share: local people giving their time, energy and heart to something much bigger than themselves.

A proud moment for Balsall Common and a very well-deserved one. 👏
