Hello Solihull 👋

Happy Easter! The Easter holidays are well and truly under way now, and if you’re anything like us, you’re trying to make the most of the lighter evenings, grab a bit of spring sunshine after Storm Dave and a few easy local plans that don’t require too much effort.

The good news is there’s still plenty happening in and around Solihull over the next few days and into next week, from Easter crafts and family activities to live music, food spots, community classes and simple ways to enjoy where we live.

In today’s edition, we’ve got a practical local reminder that could save some households money, a couple of lovely community-focused picks, some Easter food inspiration, and a round-up of things to do in Solihull this week, from workshops and family plans to parks, live music and local sport.

Let’s get into it.

Local News

The Switch Together energy scheme is still open

A quick heads-up for any Solihull households looking to cut energy costs: Solihull Council’s Switch Together Energy scheme is still open, with personalised offers due to be sent on 14 April 2026.

It’s free to join and there’s no obligation to switch. We actually used this ourselves a couple of years ago and ended up switching to Octopus, which saved our family hundreds of pounds a year. Last year, it didn’t work out cheaper for us, but it was still useful to benchmark where we were and confirm we weren’t overpaying.

The helpful bit is that Solihull Council does the legwork for you. Once the offer comes through, you can simply decide whether it’s worth it. If you’ve been meaning to sort your tariff but can’t face the admin, this feels like a decent low-effort option to look at.
